According to the National Sleep Foundation, 39 percent of Americans sleep less than seven hours each night. Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital's Center for Health Services has responded to this growing phenomenon by creating a Sleep Studies Center containing six well-appointed suites.
Each Sleep Studies Center suite contains a large bed, a private bathroom and a television. Advanced digital polysomnography technology allows Center for Health Services technicians to continuously monitor audio and video information about sleeping patients.
Symptoms that may indicate the need for a diagnostic sleep study include snoring loudly, waking from sleep short of breath, body jerking, morning jaw pain, waking frequently during the night and falling asleep during the day.
Studies require a physician referral. To learn more, call 734-671-1380.
